2016 : Towards international excellence

Publié le 08 September 2016

Marc Houalla, ENAC President, about the 2015-2016 year. A year of high marks of international recognition for ENAC, in France and overseas.

We are all aware of our jobs constant evolution, inherent in technological and societal mutations. Those mutations lead us to make our trainings progress, with as permanent objectives to search for excellence and to fulfil aeronautical business requirements.

These last monthes, our school has established itself as a worldwide reference of the aeronautical business.

Two successful audits

These progresses have been testified through two audits having taken place during 2015:

Audit by the HCERES (Research and Higher Education High Council) which underlines evolutions made by ENAC in the area of research, international activities and management.

Audit by CGEDD (Environment and Sustainable Development General Council) with this conclusion:  “This audit confirms that France, as a great aeronautical nation, has now at her disposal a first rank school for training and graduate of all aviation professions. Aviation companies thus rely on ENAC to accompany their exportation activities.”

ENAC training : excellence worldwide

All training domains concur to the school image of excellence and international fame.

Engineering

In the engineering area, this excellence express itself in structuring partnerships with the best European and Asian universities such as Hong Kong University of Sciences and Technology (HKUST) as well as with aeronautical industrials such as Airbus, Thales or Aéroports de Paris.

The last ranking of the ENAC Engineer graduation course (IENAC) in “Usine Nouvelle” magazine positions ENAC as one of the 10 best engineer’s course in France. This ranking strengthens the excellence of this course. It also follows the very good evaluations of this course in “L’Etudiant” magazine on criteria such as entry educational level, international or business and companies’ proximity.

Air navigation

In the Air Traffic Management global area, ENAC trains Air Traffic Controllers (ICNA) in a course leading now to a Master Grade. ENAC trains as well Eurocontrol Air Traffic Controllers and delivers, by itself or through partnerships, training courses to ATM services in India, China or Indonesia. The same process exists for the Air Safety Electronic Devices Engineers (IESSA) delivering a Master Grade, or for the Civil Aviation Technicians (TSEEAC) soon delivering a Licence Grade.

In this ATM area of expertise, ENAC is no doubt the most important and diversified school.

Pilot training

For pilots training, the Airline Pilot course now delivers a Licence Grade and has win recognition by a great number of major Airlines throughout the World, willing to train their pilots in ENAC. Recently signed contracts include Air Macau and Royal Air Maroc, joining the existing international clients’ portfolio.

Last but not least, ENAC is the sole school worldwide having signed partnerships with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) as Excellence Regional Center, EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) with EASA Virtual Academy status, and IATA (International Air Transport Association) and ACI (Airport Council International) for joint trainings development.

A cutting-edge Reserearch to meet the challenges of tommorow

Our school excellence acknowledgment is linked to a dynamic and high level research. For 6 years, this acknowledgement and the academic production of ENAC have highly improved: ENAC has augmented the number of so called HDR (Research Leading Habilitation), of PhD and post-doctoral students and of publications in international level magazines. In 2015 we particularly launch our “Drones Systems” chair, thanks to our endowment fund. This chair is not only the first research and education of ENAC, but also the first one in Europe on this subject.

Our research is due to take up the challenges for future, and particularly the sustainable development one. This is the reason why ENAC is involved in the E-FAN development project, the full electrical aircraft by Airbus and in the Volta project, the first electrical helicopter. By the end of 2015, we were actors in of the international think tank on climatological changes, within the official program of COP 21, by organizing in Toulouse the first air transport and sustainable development Conference. This major event highlighted ENAC Research ability to shape always smarter, safer and greener air transport systems.
