Developed by ENAC, ASTRAL is a digital application dedicated to the complete monitoring of practical training for student air traffic controllers. Designed to support every stage of simulator training, it digitises the entire learning path, from scenarios to assessments, all the way through to on-site onboarding.
In practice, ASTRAL centralises scenarios, competency grids, evaluation forms and progress data on a multi-user platform (instructors, pseudo-pilots, training coordinators, students) that is accessible anywhere, anytime. This approach enables ASTRAL to serve as a structured pedagogical database, based on a Learning Record Store (LRS) principle, paving the way for cross-referenced and enriched exploitation of training data.
Optimised for use on tablets, it allows instructors to monitor sessions in real time, record their observations and immediately share results with students.

A true collaborative and evolving tool, ASTRAL offers many advantages
- A clear and up-to-date overview of each student’s level, strengths and areas for improvement
- A shared practical training record that facilitates the transfer of information between ENAC and operational centres (Control Towers, ACCs) when taking up a position
- Time savings and improved training quality thanks to digitisation and centralised data management
- Continuous tracking from entry at ENAC through to the first missions on site
With ASTRAL, ENAC leverages technology to deliver training that is even more effective and tailored, to best prepare tomorrow’s air traffic controllers.
