A delegation from the Devlet Hava Meydanları İşletmesi Academy (Türkiye) was welcomed at the École nationale de l'aviation civile as part of exchanges between air traffic control training organisations.
This visit follows initial discussions initiated within the EUROCONTROL ATM Training Team (ATT) network, as well as a previous visit by ENAC representatives to Turkey.
Throughout the day, the delegation met with several teams to discover training programmes, simulation tools and operational environments. The agenda included presentations of ATCO training programmes, training systems such as ELSA and ASTRAL-SOCRATES, as well as ongoing developments within the Compliance and Advanced Practices 2029 (CAP 2029) programme, which aims to introduce pedagogical innovation into ENAC’s ATC training programmes whilst incorporating the forthcoming EASA regulations due to come into force in 2029.
Discussions also covered continuing training activities, ongoing cooperation on PANS-OPS training, as well as potential areas for collaboration with other ENAC departments and research teams.
These exchanges contribute to the development of informal partnerships between ATM training academies, strengthening ties between the two institutions while supporting the sharing of experience, training practices and operational perspectives. Turkey currently counts around 2,500 air traffic controllers, equally divided between men and women, and operates electronic environments for en-route control as well as for 28 of the country’s 59 airports and approach units.
