"Manage Your Prices", the first MOOC on Revenue management

Publié le 04 November 2016

It is a global first: up until now, there has never been a general MOOC on the topic of "Revenue management". ENAC et FutureLearn are launching the free online course "Manage your price". Registrations are open right now!

ENAC is signing a partnership with FutureLearn for the development of MOOCs in English (Massive Open Online Course, online training open to everyone via open access) designed for an international audience.

"Beyond transforming our practices via digital, the development of MOOCs in English aims to support our development internationally, reveals Marc Houalla, Director of the ENAC, FutureLearn is a burgeoning platform with a global reach and a clear editorial line, as well as a development strategy in line with our ambitions. This partnership will be a major asset to share our expertise with as many people as possible.

A "Revenue Management" MOOC

It is a global first: up until now, there has never been a MOOC offered to the public on the topic of "Revenue management". Revenue management consists of "the right customer paying the right price at the right time", in order to optimise profits.

This practice, which relies on economic principles, is the future of numerous sectors in particular in the service industries. It has been practised for a long time in air transport and more generally in the area of transport, where the ticket sale price, for identical journeys, changes over time. It is also found in sectors like the hotel industry, tourism and car rental. The digital economy has appropriated it, like the networking platforms such as AirBnB and even Uber.

This topic, both strategic and prospective, was selected by the ENAC and FutureLearn in order to create a course for all those who want to understand and master pricing strategies, professional or not. The "Manage Your Prices" MOOC is run by Christophe Bontemps, a Research Engineer within the prestigious Toulouse School of Economics (TSE), as well as by Nathalie Lenoir, a university lecturer and researcher at the ENAC. The educational approach of the MOOC relies on solving actual problems, as well as pricing simulation game sessions via a platform specifically developed by the Toulouse start-up "Economics games", also a project partner. Interviews with experts complete this learning and provide a perspective on the practices used in companies.

This MOOC is the result of the ENAC's expertise in air transport economics, especially through its research in economics within its laboratory. It was created thanks to the support of the Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées.

Registration on the first session of the "Manage Your Prices" MOOC is open right now.
